Ultimate Homes Summer HOT Properties

Hot, hot, hot - temperatures in Spain have once again broken all sorts of records during the month of July, and with such temperature, it is tempting to relax instead of work but we continue to go from strength to strength. At this stage of the year, we have recorded more offers than ever before and currently have 27 property sales completed or due to close so far this year.
Yes, it's true that August is traditionally the month when just about everyone is on holiday, but you can rest assured that we will not be taking our feet off the pedal. Viewings might be carried out in a slightly more informal manner as we try to beat the heat and stay cool, afterall we all want a life that is a bit more relaxed.
Tourist numbers to Spain too are at an all time high. Property completions throughout Spain are on the up - nearly every month since March 2014 - so now is as good a time as any to pay us a visit. You never know, you might even find a property.
And whilst work started on this newsletter a few days back, we have since been shocked by the atrocities committed in Barcelona - our sincerest condolences to all those affected. There is no better way to defeat such ideology as to carry on as normal (in whatever way one can).

Spanish home sales up 19% in June

This might be old new to some as it was actually announced last Tuesday (08/08/2017) but as I have been away for a few days, it is good news which needs repeating.

And that is that the Spanish Land Registry announced that home sales increased by 19% (39,625 home sales inscribed) in June 2017 compared with the year previously. Monthly home sales have now risen on an annualised basis almost every month since March 2014. Sales dropped off on only two occasions in this period, including April this year, a decline that was due to seasonality.


The figures come from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and reflect sales inscribed in the Spanish Land Registry, and tend to lag the market by about two or three months.



Looking at the figures on a regional basis, the Alicante market has shown growth year on year of 18% which is above the national average which is 14%, of course Brexit is having an effect on the number of British buyers but it is clear from the number of sales closing (and on the increase), the Brexit effect has so far been negligible.
