The purchase of Spanish properties on the part of overseas (foreign) buyers continues to rise, with an increase of 22.6% in the second quarter of 2013 compared to the same quarter in 2012, with a total of 14,593 operations, as reported by the Consejo General del Notariado.
The majority of purchases, 54.9% were realised by non-resident buyers, with the regions of Murcia, Andalucia and Valencia proving to be of greatest attraction to these buyers, which came primarily from Belgium, France and Germany. Foreign residents in Spain also made up for a very healthy share of the overall percentage of buyers, again with the largest number originating from Belgium, and also including Moroccans, Russians, French and German buyers.
Little by little, and with the help of deep-discounted properties, confidence is returning with foreign buyers at the forefront but also importantly, a large percentage of these foreign buyers being those here on the ground who can see and take advantages of the opportunities as they present themselves.
