House prices increase 1.3% year-on-year in May

TINSA provided last week more signs of the strength of the property market in #Spain, and especially property along the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands.

The general index, which reflects the evolution of the average price of finished homes (new and used) in #Spain, registered an increase of 1.3% in the interannual rate in May, after rising five tenths since April. All the groups analyzed show growth in their average values compared to May 2020.

The highest year-on-year increases in May correspond to the ‘Islas’, with a 4.6% rise, and the ‘Mediterranean coast’, with 3.2%. Below the national average, capitals and large cities show a stabilization of values (+ 0.1% per month), which leaves growth in the last year at 0.4%. The average value in the group ‘Metropolitan areas’ registered an increase of 0.2% year-on-year in May, after growing by 1.7% last month.

In short, property prices are moderately higher, with lots of demand on the coast and with travel still not especially easy at the moment, the demand is mainly from the national market.
