Valldemossa - George Sands

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure (or perhaps the good fortune) to be invited to view and list for sale a home located in Valldemossa, in the west of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands.

An early start followed by a 40 minute flight from Alicante meant I was in Mallorca for breakfast - coffee and ensaimada - and after a 20 minute drive from Palma I had arrived in in the picturesque village of Valldemossa and the stunning surrounds of the Sierra de Tramuntana.

This is without doubt a dramatic landscape where the mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea and the area is home not only to Valldemossa but also other iconic villages such as Deià and Sóller. This is a UNESCO-protected area which offers an exceptional blend of natural beauty, culture and exclusivity.

The villages are charming, with cobbled streets, stone-built homes, and a relaxed pace of life full of Mallorcan atmosphere. The residents in the area enjoy privacy, tranquility, and spectacular views, along with excellent opportunities to participate in outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and all manner of water sports.

With respect to proeprty in the area, there is a strong international demand, and is a highly sought-after market for buyers looking for secluded retreats with character and heritage. And the appeal is beyond lifestyle - it also represents a solid long-term investment, with properties retaining their values due to the limited availabilty of homes in this protected area.

This brings me nicely onto our property -  a four bedroom home located on the George Sands urbanisation with a private plot of 1058 sq. meters with private pool and garage, located 5kms from the village of Valldemossa. It is in need of reform which is reflected in the price.

The distribution is the same as it was when constructed in 1982, with three bedrooms on the lower floor and an ample terrace the leads to the garden and pool, and on the upper floor a studio / bedroom which also has access to a smaller terrace. Tidy the tree in the front garden and the upper floor terrace would benefit from a sea view.
