Teruel, the most romatic city in Spain....

Image
I recently visited Teruel with my wife Vickie to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and Teruel has been for long on our (my) list of places to visit.....plus I recalled the story of a real life Romeo and Juliet story which means it enjoys the tag of being the most romantic city in Spain.   Teruel is located on elevated terrain in the southern region of Aragon, about 75 minutes north west of Valencia so easily reachable from the Alicante region. Teruel safeguards a significant medieval heritage within its historic center. The cathedral tower, alongside those of San Salvador, San Martín, and San Pedro, stand out as the crowning jewels among a collection of Mudejar monuments designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Draped in legends, especially the tale of the lovers of Teruel, the city retains enchanting corners like the central Plaza del Torico, the arches of the aqueduct, and the beloved Paseo del Oval. From ancient times, diverse prehistoric and Iberian civilizations settled in...

Just listed - Dreamy Villa in Galera de las Palmeras, Altea

Image
Truly a fantasy house located in the quiet peaceful surroundings of Galera de las Palmeras, and I am delighted to be invited back six years after I helped the current owner purchase this dream home. Circumstances change in life and that is why, after a number of years reforming this home it is back on the market. This newer version has retained the original charm and curves which make this such a UNIQUE home in Altea, the whole coastline even.  We enter on the middle level, into the lounge with fireplace, original marble floors that were painstakingly restored, a spacious terrace, fine details throughout. The kitchen, the original rustic design but with new modern fittings, and also with access to an exterior patio, with seating and a barbecue area. We also have two bedrooms, one currently used as an office, and a shower room, of course with extraordinary detail throughout, plus a cloakroom for guests. A flight of stairs at the entrance lead up to a chill out room, a tower w...

Property completions total 650.000 in 2022

Image
Like the view and want to know more - check it out here As the title says, property completions as reported by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) reached almost 650.0000 operations (649,494 to be exact), a level not seen in 15 years. But and this is a big BUT, there was a major slowdown in December, which is to be expected however it's clear that interest rate rises and inflation worries have cooled the market. Since July last year, the ECB have stared increasing rates to 3% which has seen higher mortgage costs. So we have seen a drop off in December to 43.370 operations, a number which in itself is not bad - it's the month with the least activity since both February and April 2021 when property closings more or less ground to a halt due to covid. These numbers are covering the whole of Spain. In the Valencia region, and over the course of 2022, the number of operations closed is up 23.9% which along with the islands (Balearic and Canary) are the areas with the greates...

Altea Apartment sold in ten days

Image
Professional home-staging - this property was recently offered for sale, located in a 1970's building close to the beach and the main shopping street in  #altea  and in the space of ten working days it is already under offer. I really though this property was too expensive at 275,000 Euros, yes it was spacious and with a lift, but the building old. However, the apartment was reformed on the inside, and an interior designer was appointed to stage the apartment for sale and lo and behold, job done. Any opinions out there on home-staging, even in other countries? Here's a taster of some of the photos that helped to sell.
