As anyone who follows our website knows, we don't always limit ourselves to our local, coastal locations when listing properties. So when a previous client of ours asked if we could help find a new owner for their country home in Ontinyent, we decided what better way to spend a Friday afternoon than to have a drive out into the Valencian countryside to check it out. Situated approximately 1 hour from both Alicante and Valencia, the house is located halfway between Ontinyent and the village of Fontanars Dels Alforins, where you will find plenty of bodegas offering good-quality locally produced wines. The drive to the house is stunning, passing the lake of El Pou Clar, literally translated as the clear well, and passing fields of numerous fruit trees and vineyards. Hot, hot, hot - temperatures in Spain have once again broken all sorts of records during the month of July, and with such temperature, it is tempting to relax instead of work but we continue to go from strength to strength. At this stage of the year, we have recorded more offers than ever before and currently have 27 property sales completed or due to close so far this year. Yes, it's true that August is traditionally the month when just about everyone is on holiday, but you can rest assured that we will  not  be taking our feet off the pedal. Viewings might be carried out in a slightly more informal manner as we try to beat the heat and stay cool, afterall we all want a life that is a bit more relaxed. Tourist numbers to Spain too are at an all time high. Property completions throughout Spain are on the up - nearly every month since March 2014  - so now is as good a time as any to pay us a visit. This might be old new to some as it was actually announced last Tuesday (08/08/2017) but as I have been away for a few days, it is good news which needs repeating. And that is that the Spanish Land Registry announced that home sales increased by 19% (39,625 home sales inscribed) in June 2017 compared with the year previously. Monthly home sales have now risen on an annualised basis almost every month since March 2014. Sales dropped off on only two occasions in this period, including April this year, a decline that was due to seasonality. The figures come from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and reflect sales inscribed in the Spanish Land Registry, and tend to lag the market by about two or three months. Looking at the figures on a regional basis, the Alicante market has shown growth year on year of 18% which is above the national average which is 14%, of course Brexit is having an effect on the number of British buyers but it is clear from the number of sales cl...

Unemployment is now at the lowest level since 2008, and that is no doubt why we have been working with as many Spanish clients in the first six months of this year, helping them to find the right property, compared with the whole of 2016. For many Spanish buyers, the employment situation has been the biggest concern throughout the crises,so it is comforting for all to see the unemployment level reducing though there is without doubt still much room for improvement. A few weeks ago, one of the trusted (and established) construction firms that we work with, Victoria Playa, launched a new development of 14 homes within a gated community in Els Poblets, Denia.
