Denia Beach - Say "Hola" to a new life

We recently visited a new development being built within meters of the beach in Les Marines,  Dénia, a stunning location alongside natural beaches. The development is made up of 79 apartments with a choice of one, two and three bedrooms, in an urbanization with a communal swimming pool and gardens, and access points to the sandy beach.  With terraces that offer views towards the sea, the Montgo and of course overlooking the communal gardens and pool, the apartments feature floor to ceiling windows to maximize the natural light. The open kitchen with breakfast bar comes furnished and fully equipped with oven, electric hob and extractor fan. The bathrooms are  equipped with natural rain-effect shower and stone shower tray with integrated shower screen, plus washbasin furniture, mirror and halogen lights. The apartment will have armored door and windows with double glazing for a perfect isolation of noise and temperature, in addition to installation of air ...

Altea, out of season

Image
It's mid January, a little overcast, it might rain, but then again, it probably won't. With the arrival of the cooler weather, a visit to the beach might not feature in everyone's plans, but it should. Altea is a small white fishing village located in between the bigger and better known Benidorm and Calpe. (It also happens to be the place I call home)! And it is one of the many destinations that receives visitors throughout the year.  Known for its legendary old town and its white houses, visiting this captivating municipality in the low season can be the perfect winter getaway. The tranquility that is experienced during these months and the drop in prices outside the summer period, makes it a suitable for all tastes. Stroll along the sea as if the summer had not come to an end, eat tasty rice or end the day with a delicious ice cream.  © Alamy The whole of the Valencian Community is synonymous with rice and finding a good paella is not difficult -  my pe...

Mortgage Tax and Costs

A lot has been said over the last three weeks regarding the costs and taxes associated with a mortgage in Spain. The following is from the Money Saver Spain website and is worth a read. Spain's Supreme Court decided this week, in a reversal of their initial decision, that it should be the client and not the bank that pays the tax when taking out a mortgage. Consumer organisations, amongst others, are outraged. It was hoped that the Supreme Court would maintain their original decision but without backdating it, thereby removing the possibility of an avalanche of claims.  The Government has announced that they will rush through a change in the law for all new mortgage clients making banks responsible for the tax payment. But banks are expected to make mortgage conditions less favourable for new clients. Now it remains to be seen what will happen when the case is taken to the European Court of Justice.
