Continued Improvement in Spanish Home Sales

The National Institute of Statistics in Spain (Instituto Nacional de Estadística) has announced that the sale of Spainish homes increased by 17.6% during the month of April compared to the same month last year, a total of 34,326 operations, of which 49.7% were new-home transactions, and 50.3% on resale properties.

This is the fourth consecutive month that we have seen a rebound in sales transactions, following the 9% increase in March. Following two years of declining homes-sales, the first ascent took place last January, up 2.1%. Of the 34,326 residential sales transactions recorded in April, 89.3% were on free housing and 10.7% of social housing.

The sale of previously owned homes rose in April at 26.6% annual rate, up to 17 263 transactions, and new homes rose 9.8%, with 17 063 operations in the fourth month of the year.
